Possibly from Hokkien 曾孫/曾孙 (chan-sun, “great-grandson (in a male lineage)”), via Spanish Sanson (Compare Tagalog Singson), or from a hypercorrection of Samson, from Spanish Samson, originally from Literary Hokkien 三孫/三孙 (sam-sun), corrected with Mandarin 三 (sān).
