Etymology

From Proto-Celtic *kʷritus, from pre-Celtic *kʷr̥tus, a tu-stem derived from Proto-Indo-European *kʷer- (to make, cause). Cognate with Old Irish cruth (shape, form).

GPC separates Welsh pryd in the "time, moment" and "face, appearance" senses, and expresses doubt at whether they are etymologically related.[1]
