Etymology

From the reconstructed Proto-Numic word for "person", *nɨmɨ (person). In the three Central Numic languages and the two Western Numic languages, its reflex is /nɨmɨ/. In Kawaiisu it is /nɨwɨ/, and in Colorado River it is /nɨwɨ/, /nɨŋwɨ/ and /nuu/.
