- The conquest of Dacia by Trajan removed the frontiers of the empire farther north, beyond Mœsia; but after the loss of the province of Dacia, about A.D. 250, Mœsia became again a border country, and, as such, exposed to the irruption of the Goths, who, after several attempts, crossed the Danube, and occupied Mœsia in the leign of the Emperor Valens.
