Lapinlahti

Finnish

Etymology

Lapin + lahti. As a name for the municipality, in reference to the historical Sami population in the area; for the quarter in Helsinki, the reference is similar, although the term could have also been used as a (disparaging) way to refer to Finns who lived "like the Sami", i.e. a nomadic lifestyle.[1]
