Etymology
First attested as utresuagh in 1315. Calque of West Frisian Langsweagen, derived in turn from a compound of Old Frisian lang (“long”) and swâg (“pasture, place where cattle is kept”). The element lang was added to distinguish the settlement from Kortezwaag.
