Cognates exist across Volta-Niger languages, see Igbo Afa, Ede Idaca Ifa, Ewe Afá, Fon Fá, Igala Ífá, Edo Iha, Ebira Eva, Urhobo Epha, and Nupe Eba. Several theories exist among worshippers of Ifá and the Odù Ifá.
