Clipping of Ogeechee. From the Ogeechee River, a river in South Carolina, where this West African derived community settled.[1] From Ogeechee, from the Muskogee language term meaning "river of the Uchees", from Creek Uchee, the Muskogee Creek name for the Yuchi people (an exonym provided by the Creek).
