Etymology

Named after a watercourse located to the east of Tholen, derived from a compound of Middle Dutch heen (sea clubrush, Bulboschoenus maritimus) and -drecht (ferry, watercourse). The initial H- was gradually lost, and the hydronym was reinterpreted to eendracht (concord).
