Etymology 1

Borrowed from the Hanyu Pinyin romanization of the Mandarin 大連大连 (Dàlián), ultimately from Russian Да́льний (Dálʹnij, literally distant). Related to the name of the bay called after a village located on the opposite side of the bay.
