-π½π³π

Etymology
From Proto-Germanic *-ndz. Cognate with Dutch -end, English -ing, German -end, Latin -Δns, Ancient Greek -ΟΞ½ (-Εn), Sanskrit -ΰ€ ΰ€¨ΰ₯ΰ€€ΰ₯ (-ant).
Suffix
-π½π³π β’ (-nds)
Usage notes
- In both cases, the suffix is always attached to the thematic vowel of the verb; thus, this suffix always manifests either as -π°π½π³π (-ands) and -ππ½π³π (-Εnds). These are used when the infinitive ends in -π°π½ (-an) and -ππ½ (-Εn) respectively.
- Sometimes, apparent participles are attested which do not seem to have been formed via an extant verb but rather through the direct combination of various words plus this suffix into an adjective which resembles a participle in form and meaning; e.g. π±π»ππΈπ°ππΉπ½π½π°π½π³π (blΕΓΎarinnands), πΏπ½πππ°πΈπΎπ°π½π³π (unfraΓΎjands).
