The central tine may not be even with the sides of the cup, or pass into the cup at all. When the tines are even, the symbol may be identical to common variants of ⟨♆⟩. Occasionally there will be no crossbar on the cross.

A rotated ⟨Є⟩ shape for 'calx' with a cross at bottom for calx viva i.e. quicklime.
