From Old Persian 𐎺𐎼𐎣𐎠𐎴 (v-r-k-a-n /Varkāna/), from Proto-Iranian [Term?] (compare Avestan 𐬬𐬆𐬵𐬭𐬐𐬁𐬥𐬀 (vəhrkāna) and Parthian 𐭅𐭓𐭊𐭍 (wrkn /Wurgān/)).
