Compare Avestan 𐬐𐬀𐬙𐬀- (kata-, “house/home, pit”), Persian کد (kad, “house”). See Proto-Finno-Ugric *kota for more possible cognates. The sense 'verse', is a semantic loan from Old Armenian տուն (tun).
