From Ancient Greek ΦαΟΞ±Ο (PharaαΉ), from Hebrew Χ€Φ·ΦΌΧ¨Φ°Χ’ΦΉΧβ (parβΕh), from Egyptian pr-κ₯κ£ (βpalace, pharaohβ), literally pr (βhouseβ) + κ₯κ£ (βgreat, bigβ).
Declension
Irregular loanword. Attested as a nominative singular ππ°ππ°π (faraΕ) in the newly discovered (2009) Gothica Bononiensia; as a dative ππ°ππ°ππ½πΉ (faraΕni) both in the Bononiensia and in older codices (Romans 9:17).
