Sino-Korean word from 配達, an orthographic borrowing from Japanese 配達 (haitatsu, “delivery; distribution”).

- Phonetic hangul: [배(ː)달/베(ː)달]
- Though still prescribed in Standard Korean, most speakers in both Koreas no longer distinguish vowel length.
