Sino-Korean word from 漫畫, from 漫 (“free, unrestrained”) + 畫 (“drawing”), from an orthographic borrowing from Japanese 漫画 (manga).

- Phonetic hangul: [만(ː)화]
- Though still prescribed in Standard Korean, most speakers in both Koreas no longer distinguish vowel length.
