길가
Korean
Etymology
From 길 (gil, “road”) + ㅅ (-s-, genitive interfix; omitted from the spelling, but this causes the tense phonation of the following consonant) + 가 (ga, “side”).
First attested in the Yongbi eocheon'ga (龍飛御天歌 / 용비어천가), 1447, as Middle Korean 긼〮ᄀᆞᇫ〯 (Yale: kíl-s-kǒz).
Pronunciation
- (SK Standard/Seoul) IPA(key): [kiɭk͈a̠]
- Phonetic hangul: [길까]
