가운데
Korean
Etymology
First attested in the Worin seokbo (月印釋譜 / 월인석보), 1459, as Middle Korean 가ᄫᆞᆫ〮ᄃᆡ〮 (Yale: kàWóntóy), apparently from the adnominal form of the unattested verb *갑〯다〮 (Yale: *kǎW-tá, hence perhaps meaning "to be central") + ᄃᆡ〮 (Yale: tóy, “place”, modern 데 (de)).
