From 青 (ao, “blue”) +‎ 海原 (unabara, “wide ocean”).

     あをうなばらふりさけ見(み)れば春日(かすが)なる三(み)笠(かさ)の山(やま)にいでし月(つき)かも

     aounabara furisakemireba Kasuga naru Mikasa-no-yama ni ideshi tsuki ka mo

     Gazing afar across the wide, blue ocean, the moon rises over Mount Mikasa in Kasuga.

     [Note: The 406th poem of the Kokin Wakashū replaces aounabara with 天の原 (ama no hara, “plain of heaven”).]
