Shortened from 明日なろう (asu wa hinoki ni narō, literally tomorrow [the asunaro] will become a hinoki cypress),[1][2] a blend/compound of 明日 (asu, tomorrow) + なろう (narō, volitional form of verb なる (naru), to “become).
