  1. (clothing) a stone or gem decorated leather belt, worn as part of formal court attire. Square stone decoration is called 巡方(じゅんぽう) (junpō) and worn for ceremonies, round stone decoration is called 丸鞆(まるとも) (marutomo) and for more daily wear.
