Sound shift from 盛り (sakari),[1] the 連用形 (ren'yōkei, stem or continuative form) of the verb 盛る (sakaru, to be in prime condition), itself sharing a root with 栄える (sakaeru, to thrive, boom) and 咲く (saku, to bloom).
