Compound of 前(まえ) (mae, “before, ahead”) + 触(ふ)れ (fure, 連(れん)用(よう)形(けい) (ren'yōkei, “stem or continuative form”) of the verb 触(ふ)れる (fureru, “to contact, to report”).). The fure changes to bure as an instance of rendaku (連濁).
