Etymology
From Philopon, a Japanese trademark for a methamphetamine formerly sold under that name, coined from Ancient Greek φιλόπονος (philóponos, “diligent, industrious”, literally “lover of work”).[1] It is now used more generally to refer to any methamphetamine or any illegal stimulant drug.
