   • 1999, Saimon Fumi, Ren'airon [Theory of love], page 26:

     世(せ)間(けん)のカップルを見(み)回(まわ)すと、「なんで、あの二人(ふたり)が！」と驚(おどろ)かされる、一(いっ)見(けん)チグハグの二人(ふたり)組(ぐみ)というものが結(けっ)構(こう)多(おお)いものである。しかし、じつは、こういうカップルこそが、真(しん)のカップルといえるのである。

     Seken no kappuru o mimawasu to, “nande, ano futari ga!” to odorokasareru, ikken chiguhagu no futarigumi to iu mono ga kekkō ōi mono de aru. Shikashi, jitsu wa, kō iu kappuru koso ga, shin no kappuru to ieru no de aru.

     When I survey couples in public, I am quite often shocked and think, “Why those two!” of two people who seem at a glance oddly mismatched. But in fact, such a couple is exactly what can be called a proper couple.
