Punctuation mark
⸗
- (lexicography) Used in some dictionaries when a hyphenated word breaks on the hyphen at the end of a line.
- Synonym: ⹀
- (palaeography, Coptic) Conventionally used in modern texts to indicate a pre-pronominal form in Coptic grammar, as opposed to the simple hyphen for other uses.
Usage notes
In Fraktur script, the normal hyphen has the appearance of this glyph. However, it should be encoded as an ASCII hyphen and left to the font to render properly.
