- For example, ⟨ḁ᫃⟩ is an [a] that is partially devoiced at the onset, perhaps because it's at the beginning of an utterance or follows a voiceless consonant, while ⟨ã᫁⟩ a lightly nasalized at the onset, perhaps because it follows a nasal consonant or a nasal vowel in the preceding syllable.
