Etymology

From Proto-Kartvelian *ca- (sky). *ცა̈̄- (*cǟ-) is attested only in this word and was displaced by დეც (dec), a borrowing from Georgian ზეცა (zeca).

Compare Mingrelian ცაშხა (cašxa), Laz ჩაჩხა (çaçxa).
