From Greek μαγαζί (magazí), in plural μαγαζιά (magaziá), itself from Italian magazzino, with the ultimate source being Arabic مَخَازِن (maḵāzin, “storerooms, storehouses”). Note also dated Russian магазе́я (magazéja), Ottoman Turkish مغازه (mağaza).
