Etymology
From โทร (too-rá-, “far; remote”) + ทัศน์ (“view; vision”); phono-semantic matching of English and calque of English television; coined by Prince Narathip Phong Praphan (1891–1976), Royal Society president. Compare Lao ໂທລະທັດ (thō la that) and Hindi दूरदर्शन (dūrdarśan).
