Etymology
From Sanskrit अनेक (aneka, “not one; more than one; many; several; diverse”) or Pali aneka (“not one; many; various; countless; numberless”). Cognate with Khmer អនេក (ʼɑneik), Lao ອະເນກ (ʼa nēk). Equivalent to อน- (on-, “not”) + เอก (èek, “one”).
