From Angkorian Old Khmer jaṃraḥ, jaṃras, jaṃrās (“to clarify; to clean; to clear up; etc”). Compare Old Khmer juṃraḥ; Modern Khmer ជំរះ (cumrĕəh).

ชำระ • (cham-rá) (abstract noun การชำระ)

1. (transitive) to clean, especially by washing.
