Inherited from Prakrit 𑀓𑀢𑁆𑀢𑀭𑀻 (kattarī), from Sanskrit કર્તરી (kartarī). Cognate with Kachchi કતર (katar), Marathi कात्री (kātrī), Dhivehi ކަތުރު (katuru), and Sinhalese කතුර (katura).
