Inherited from Magadhi Prakrit *𑀓𑀟𑁆𑀠𑀇 (*kaḍḍhaï), from Ashokan Prakrit *𑀓𑀟𑁆𑀠𑀢𑀺 (*kaḍḍhati, to pull, drag). Cognate with Assamese কঢ়া (korha), Maithili काढ़ब (kāṛhab), Hindi काढ़ना (kāṛhnā), Gujarati કાઢવું (kāḍhvũ), Punjabi ਕੱਢਣਾ (kaḍḍhaṇā), Marathi काढणे (kāḍhṇe). Doublet of উখড়ানো (ukhṛanō).
