Etymology
From Proto-Indo-European *sep-el-yé (“to honor”), a derivative of *sep-el- (“honor”), from *sep- (“to care for”). Cognate with Ancient Greek ἕπω (hépō, “to busy oneself with”), Latin sepeliō (“to bury, inter”). See also सप् (sap, “to honor”).
