Doublet of रोहू (rohū) > Sanskrit रोहित (rohita), from same Proto-Indo-European root. Cognate with Avestan 𐬭𐬀𐬊𐬌𐬜𐬌𐬙𐬀 (raoⁱδita), English red, Bengali রুই (rui), Assamese ৰৌ (rou), Punjabi ਲਹੂ (lahū), Kalasha ḷúi, Khowar لۓى (léei).
