Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘢𑘭𑘨𑘜𑘹 (pasaraṇe), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀧𑀲𑀭𑀇 (pasaraï), from Sanskrit प्रसरति (prasarati). Cognate to Gujarati પસરવું (pasarvũ), Hindi पसरना (pasarnā).
