Borrowed from Classical Persian دواخانه (dawāxāna). Compare Punjabi ਦਵਾਖ਼ਾਨਾ (davāxānā) / دواخانہ (doāxānh), Gujarati દવાખાનું (davākhānũ), Marathi दवाखाना (davākhānā), Kannada ದವಾಖಾನೆ (davākhāne). By surface analysis, दवा (davā, “medicine”) + ख़ाना (xānā, “place”).
