क्याकु

Sanskrit

Etymology

Unknown; the unusual structure of the term (with rare initial ky-) suggests a (Dravidian?) substrate borrowing. Compare Nepali च्याउ (cyāu, mushroom), as well as Proto-Dravidian *kāy "seed; unripe fruit".[1]
