Borrowed from Dravidian, compare Tamil கலம் (kalam).[1] Alternatively see Old Armenian կարաս (karas, water-jar) for possible connections. Compare also Ancient Greek κύλιξ (kúlix, a wine cup) and Latin calix (cup, chalice).
