Borrowed from Prakrit 𑀘𑀉𑀢𑀻𑀲 (caütīsa), from Sanskrit चतुस्त्रिंशत् (catustriṃśat). Cognate with Sinhalese සූතිස (sūtisa). For the preservation of /r/, see ތިރީސް (tirīs).
