Etymology

Inherited from Proto-Turkic *ček- (to pull toward oneself); cognate with Azerbaijani çəkmək, Chuvash ҫак (śak), Kazakh шегу (şegu), Kyrgyz чегүү (cegüü), Salar çik, Turkmen çekmek and Uzbek chekmoq.
