From Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (cʾp̄wk' /⁠čābuk⁠/, agile, nimble; excellent), suffixed from an unattested root borrowed as Old Armenian ճեպ (čep, haste). Akin to Old Armenian ճապուկ (čapuk), Old Georgian ჭაპუკი (č̣aṗuḳi), ჭაბუკი (č̣abuḳi), Middle Iranian borrowings.
