Etymology
From Arabic بَبَغَاء (babaḡāʔ, “parrot”), probably a word of onomatopoeic origin. Compare Classical Syriac ܒܒܓܐ (/babbaggā/), Old Armenian պապկայ (papkay) and Persian ببغا (babğâ).
