From Middle Persian [script needed] (MHL, pltʾk' /fradāg/, “tomorrow”), from Proto-Iranian *frata- (“early, ahead, front”), an extension of Proto-Iranian *fra- (“front, pro-”). Compare Sanskrit प्रातर् (prātar, “early in the morning; tomorrow”) and German Frühe (“morning”).
