Pseudo-Arabic formation from عَکْس ('aks, “photo”), from Arabic عَكْس (ʕaks, “reflection, opposite”), using the Arabic pattern فَعّال (faʕʕāl) which creates words for habitual actions and professions. Compare کَفّاش (kaffâš, “cobbler”).
