From Aramaic שֽׁיפּוּרָא / שֽׁפּוּרָא (šippūrā) / ܫܝܺܦܘܿܪܳܐ (šippōrā, trumpet, shofar). Cognate to Hebrew שׁוֹפָּר (šōp̄ārā, trumpet, shofar) whence probably Jewish Palestinian Aramaic, Jewish Literary Aramaic שׁוֹפָרָא (šōp̄ārā, trumpet, shofar).
