Etymology

From Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (dwšytn' /⁠dōšīdan⁠/, to milk), from Old Persian *dauxšatī, ultimately from Proto-Iranian *dáwxšati (to milk). Whence also دوختن (duxtan). Cognate with Baluchi دوشگ (dōšag "milk"), Northern Kurdish doşîn.
