From Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (dwhtl /⁠duxtar⁠/), oblique case of [Book Pahlavi needed] (dwht' /⁠duxt⁠/), from Old Persian *duxçī-, from Proto-Iranian *dúgdā. Cognate with Northern Kurdish dot, Pashto لور (lur).
